Town Council 2024/25 Budget

The February Town Council meeting saw councillors agree to the proposed budget recommended by the Budget Committee.

The making of this year's budget faced many difficult challenges. Soaring energy costs, nationally set wage increases, inflation and unprecedented rises in external contract prices were the most significant pressures facing members of the Budget Committee in setting recommendations to the council.

After a full line-by-line review of all spending by the Town Council, the proposed budget required a precept of £999,315.

This results in an average annual increase of £17.75 per Band D property.

2023 – 24 Precept per Band D property £122.02 p.a.

2024 – 25 Precept per Band D property £139.77

This applies to the Town Council element of the Council Tax bill.

Deputy Leader, Coun Kevin Tait, explained: "Our council, in line with many others, has faced significant financial challenges. The target of the committee has been to set a budget which protects services, provides a balanced budget and protects Town Council reserves.

I would like to thank councillors and officers for their work in carrying out the line-by-line review to identify where savings and efficiencies could be made, while still maintaining the level of service provision Dronfield residents expect."
