The passing of HM Queen Elizabeth the Second

It is with the greatest sorrow that Dronfield Town Council join the nation in mourning the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second. We remember with affection and gratitude the lifetime of service given by HM Queen Elizabeth the Second.

Flags will be flown at half-mast at the Peel Centre and a Book of Condolence will be opened at the Civic Hall.

As a mark of respect a two minute silence will be held in the Manor Gardens on a date and time to be announced.

Council events will be postponed and rescheduled during this period of national mourning.

The Councillors, Clerk and officers of Dronfield Town Council are deeply saddened at the news of the death of HM Queen Elizabeth the Second and our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this difficult time.

Details of events marking the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth the Second

Flag Flying

As a mark of respect, the Union Flag at the Peel Centre Flagpole will fly at half-mast.

On Saturday 10th September, the Union flag will be raised to full mast at 11am for the proclamation to acknowledge the new King.

On Sunday 11th September, after the proclamation at approximately 4pm, the flag will be returned to half mast where it will remain until the day of the funeral.

The funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth the Second will take place on Monday 19th September. The day after the funeral, the Union flag will be flown at full mast from approximately 8am.

Reading of the Proclamation

The Town Mayor will be reading the proclamation in the Manor Gardens, outside the Library at 4pm on Sunday 11th September. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Book Of Condolence

A book of condolence will be available to sign in the Civic Hall, Civic Centre from the morning of Friday 9th September. The opening times for signing are :

Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm / Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

Floral Tributes

Floral tributes from residents may be placed in the grassed area on the Manor Gardens at Dronfield Library.

Service Of Remembrance

From the Parochial Church Council of Dronfield with Holmesfield
There will be a commemorative service of remembrance for HM Queen Elizabeth the Second at Dronfield Parish Church on Sunday, 18th September 2022 at 10am. Every parish in the land will be holding a special service like this prior to Her Late Majesty's funeral, though dates and times will vary. This service is offered for all the people of Dronfield and District, and in partnership with Dronfield Town Council.
