New Mayor Elected

At the Town Council's first virtual council meeting last night, 11th May, Cllr Richard Welton was elected to succeed Cllr Lilian Deighton, as Town Mayor for Dronfield.

A resident of Gosforth Valley, Cllr Welton came to Dronfield in 1968 and attended William Levick and Dronfield Henry Fanshawe schools before attending University where he gained a law degree and a MBA. Qualifying as a barrister and then in a career as a company adviser and investor, he is now retired. Richard is also a member of Dore and Totley Golf Club.

Cllr Welton is currently a councillor for the Gosforth Valley Ward and he is very much looking forward to his year in office, although taking over during a difficult period of time, he hopes the situation will improve towards the end of the year.

At the same meeting Cllr Tim Collins was elected Deputy Mayor, Cllr Angelique Foster was re-elected Leader of the Council and Cllr Alan Powell re-elected as Deputy Leader of the Council.
