Speed Indicator Devices Installed in Dronfield

In 2022, the Town Council made the decision to buy two speed indicator devices for use on a rotational basis - at Bowshaw, Carr Lane, Gosforth Drive and Eckington Road. Both devices were recently installed at their starting locations.

The moveable devices, a type of vehicle-activated sign designed to reduce speeding at known hotspots, cost £7306.25. The majority of the cost was covered by Community Leadership Grants from local Derbyshire County Councillors Angelique Foster, Alex Dale and Mark Foster.

Chair of Road Safety, Coun Marie Ireland, explained: "The cameras have a proven track record of helping tackle speeding motorists. Our aim is to make Dronfield's roads safer for all road users."

Swarco have been chosen as the preferred supplier. The devices are solar powered with a back-up battery.
