Funding up to £500 available with Community Action Grant

North East Derbyshire District Council has launched the next round of its Community Action Grants Scheme.

With funding of up to £500 available to community groups in the District for projects that support residents to tackle local issues in the area. With regard to the celebrations that will mark Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee in 2022, NEDDC recognises the opportunity to enhance the natural environment and the wellbeing benefits of positive social interaction, so this round of NEDDC Community Action Grants will also consider applications from community-led groups to purchase additional trees to support the Queen's Green Canopy (QGC) tree planting initiative or official commemorative plaques, as well as support Jubilee celebration events open to the local community.

NEDDC is also pleased to confirm that temporary road closure fees will be waived for Jubilee celebration events. The process in how to apply for a closure.

The funding is available to formally constituted groups and non-constituted groups who are sponsored by an organisation who will act on their behalf, such as a Town or Parish Council or other constituted group. The scheme is not open to businesses.

Councillor Alan Powell, Cabinet Member for Housing, Communities and Communications said, "We are encouraging local groups to apply for this funding to tackle local issues that have a positive impact on their communities whilst contributing to the delivery of the Council Plan. This round of funding is also supporting communities to help celebrate Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June, which will be a weekend to remember for everyone".
