Beacon Lighting Celebration Event for The Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Beacon Lighting Celebration Event for The Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Dronfield Town Council is planning a Beacon Lighting Celebration Event to mark and celebrate the historic event of the Queens Platinum Jubilee. The event, to be held on Thursday 2nd June 2022, will celebrate and reflect on The Queen's 70 years of service to our country.

On the evening of Thursday June 2nd a beacon will be lit at Sindelfingen Park. This is one of a minimum of 1500 beacons that will be lit cross the United Kingdom to mark the occasion. We hope as many residents as possible will attend to help us celebrate the event.

The lighting of the Beacon will be preceded by a short service led by Reverend Ian Webb to give thanks for the Queen's long reign and service to her country. The evening will also include a speech from the Mayor and performances from a local band and choir before the lighting of the beacon at 9:45pm.

Please check in with the Website for details as final planning takes place.

Residents can also apply to close their street or road for a street party to celebrate on a day over the extended bank holiday weekend, from Thursday, 2nd June to Sunday, 5th June or as part of The Big Lunch on the 5th itself, again visit the website for further details.

Normally, a street party road closure would be subject to an administration fee. However, North East Derbyshire County Council is waiving the fee for Platinum Jubilee street parties.

If you require further information on road closures, please contact North East Derbyshire District Council direct on 01246 231111.
