Green Bin Collections Suspended from 10th April

Green Bin Collections Suspended from 10th April

North East Derbyshire District Council has been constantly reviewing refuse collections amid the global coronavirus pandemic.

After 10th April 2020, the collections will be streamlined to black and burgundy bin collections ONLY, maximising staff potential at this difficult time.

Being able to collect household waste and recycling is a top priority for the Council. However, with the pandemic hitting everyone hard, the service will now need to focus on black and burgundy collections.

The District Council will work to reinstate green waste collections as soon as it is safe and possible to do so.

Portfolio holder for the Environment, Councillor Charlotte Cupit, said, "We are doing everything we possibly can to help our residents during this difficult time. I'm grateful to all the members of staff who are working hard to maintain services and continue to collect waste.

"Streamlining the service to black and burgundy bin collections will ensure we continue to have the staff available to safely continue collections for these services.

"Our priorities are, as always, ensuring our residents have their waste and recycling bins emptied, whilst ensuring the safety of all.

"We are all in this pandemic together and rest assured we are doing everything we can to help keep things running as smoothly as possible".

The Council is asking residents of the District who are self-isolating or who are vulnerable, to complete an online registration form on their website www.ne-derbyshire.gov.uk or by calling 01246 231111 so that contact can be established and provisions can be out in place to administer help.
