Remembrance Sunday Commemorations

War Memorial

On the second Sunday in November each year (In 2025 - Sunday 9th November) the residents of Dronfield come together to commemorate and remember those who have died in world wars and other conflicts.

A minute's silence is observed, hymns are sung, and local organisations and groups are invited to lay a wreath, to honour those who served and sacrificed.

This is always a very busy and well supported event by the residents of Dronfield, who always line the parade routes with a huge attendance on the day.

Please note: road closures will be in operation on the morning of the event to facilitate safe passage for the parade.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR 2025

Due to the current road closure on Church Street, the arrangements for the 2025 service on Sunday 9th November are as follows:

If Church Street is reopened by November 1st, we will follow Plan A; if it remains closed, we will follow Plan B.

Plan AAssemble in School Lane

It is proposed that the parade route commences at the junction of Fletcher Avenue on School Lane, parades down Lea Road, Church Street and High Street to the Library Gardens, where the service will commence at 10.45am.

Following the service, the parade will return down High Street and Church Street to the St John the Baptist Parish Church for a church service. The remaining parade will then make their way down Church Street back to School Lane.

Plan BAssemble on Soaper Lane

It is proposed that the parade route commences up Soaper Lane, parades up High Street to the Library Gardens, where the service will commence at 10.45am.

Following the service the parade will return down High Street, then commence back down to Soaper Lane.

To enable the parade and service to occur there is a proposed road closure of the following roads between 10:15am and 11:45am:

1) Gledhill Close - Appletree Drive - Fletcher Avenue - School Lane - Lea Road - Church Street

2) Church Street to High Street (including access to the Civic Centre car park in Dronfield)

3) Church Street to School Lane

4) Soaper Lane

Please ensure no cars are parked on School Lane or Soaper Lane as the parade may be forming on either of these streets.
