The January Town Council meeting heard councillors discuss the appeal against the refusal of planning permission for a Battery Energy Storage Site at Dyche Lane.

The hearing is scheduled to take place at 10am on 27th February at the District Council offices, 2013 Mill Lane, Wingerworth, S42 6NG, before an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State. It will be open to the Inspector to grant planning permission for the appeal. Councillors agreed to send Coun Mark Foster to represent Dronfield Town Council at the hearing.

Coun Mark Foster commented: "The Town Council has previously opposed this as inappropriate development on our greenbelt and also supported the planning authority's original refusal of permission. The proposed application covers a huge area and if agreed sets a precedence for loss of countryside in our town."
