2025/26 Town Council tax precept
The February Town Council meeting saw councillors unanimously agree to the proposed budget and precept recommended by the Budget Committee.
When setting this year's budget, the council faced significant ongoing financial challenges.
Nationally-set wage increases and the increased Employer's National Insurance contribution, as well as increased legislation, high utility costs and ongoing negotiations for a new lease for the Civic Hall, all contributed to the considerable pressures facing members of the Budget Committee when setting recommendations to Council.
Chair of Budget, Councillor Angelique Foster, said: "Our councillors have spent a lot of time over the previous months scrutinising the council's expenditure. This work has meant we are able to continue to provide a high level of service to the residents of Dronfield without having to resort to high tax rises when faced with significant outside financial pressures."
After a full line-by-line review of all spending by the Town Council, the proposed budget required a precept of £1,058,495. This results in an average annual increase of £8.18 per Band D property.
2024-25 Precept per Band D property: £139.77
2025-26 Precept per Band D property: £147.95.
This applies to the Town Council element of the Council Tax bill.
