Care at Christmas Appeal - Gosforth Lodge Donation Point

Care at Christmas Appeal - Gosforth Lodge Donation Point

North East Derbyshire District Council, together with its housing partner Rykneld Homes, has launched its Care at Christmas Appeal to provide a surprise festive gift to residents in Care Homes.

They are inviting communities to get behind the appeal by donating small gifts such as biscuits, chocolates, jigsaws, bubble bath and bed socks or you can donate online, with the money used to buy gifts for the residents.

Councillor Alan Powell, portfolio holder for Communities at North East Derbyshire District Council said, "There are many residents in care home who won't be able to see their families on Christmas Day, and there also those without families or no outside support who often feel isolated".

"With this appeal we want to spread a little Christmas cheer for them with a gift to open on Christmas Day."

With advice from the homes themselves appropriate gifts include chocolate, sweets, biscuits, bubble bath and bed socks.

Donation points:

Gifts can be dropped off locally at Gosforth Lodge in Cliffe Park between 8am and 4pm on Wednesday 9th December or Monday 14th December.

A central drop off point has also been provided at the District Council offices on Mill Lane, Wingerworth. There will be a donation point in the main reception of the building which is open Monday to Friday, 9am until 5pm.

The closing date is 16 December and the presents will then be delivered to the homes in time for Christmas Day.

If you prefer you can donate cash online by visiting www.easydonate.org/NOIT03.
