2020 Remembrance Day Plans

Unfortunately due to the ongoing coronavirus situation there will be no parade taking place on Remembrance Sunday this year and members of the public are asked not to gather on that morning near the War Memorial. However, the Council are still keen for a commemoration to take place within the social gatherings guidelines.

Therefore there are currently plans for a service to be held on the morning of Sunday 8th November with a small number of invited attendees only. The Council is hoping to be able to live stream the service on Facebook for residents to watch.

Representatives from local groups and organisations have then been invited to lay their wreaths in small groups throughout the morning and afternoon at timed intervals - to avoid a large gathering taking place.

An application has been made to close the High Street during the morning of Sunday 8th November to help provide additional space for social distancing to take place.

Please note these plans are subject to change should the coronavirus situation change locally or nationally before the 8th November.
