Dementia Friendly Film Screenings in Dronfield in 2018

Matinée Derbyshire have recently confirmed a number of bookings at the Civic Hall in Dronfield for Dementia Friendly Film Screenings in 2018. Matinée provides film screenings for people living in the community who have memory challenges plus their friends, family and carers. The aim is to create a sociable and friendly atmosphere and hope that visitors will enjoy the films provided.

The first three films showing will be High Society on 31 January, Victoria and Abdul on 28 March and Funny Face on 27 June. The doors will open at 1pm and on arrival visitors will be warmly welcomed and offered some refreshments. The films will then start at 1.30pm and about half way through the film there will be an interval.

During the interval more refreshments will be on offer as well as fun reminiscence materials or activities, or even singing! The rest of the film will then follow and finish at 4pm. The cost for the filming screening, including refreshments is £4.00 and patrons with dementia may bring one carer, family member or friend for free.

Matinée Screenings are organised by Frances Watt, with the support of staff from partner organisations including the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Derbyshire County Council, Public Health, the Alzheimer's Society, Making Space and a team of dedicated volunteers.
