Town Council declares a climate emergency

Town Council declares a climate emergency

At their September meeting, Dronfield Town Council declared a climate emergency and resolved to take action, to the best of its ability, to help towards achieving a shift to zero carbon emissions by 2050, or sooner if possible.

October 1st sees the launch of this year's Stoptober challenge. The annual campaign, run by Public Health England, attracts thousands of people keen to quit.

Dronfield Parish Young Voices have something to sing about

Dronfield Parish Young Voices have something to sing about

Dronfield Parish Young Voices was launched in January 2019 and now regularly attracts 35 or more youngsters to the singing sessions on Monday evenings in the Dronfield Civic Hall. Children from nine different schools in the local area attend and range in age from 7 to 12 years.

Parents of year 6 pupils living in Derbyshire can now apply to Derbyshire County Council for their child's secondary school place for September 2020.

Around 8,500 year 6 primary school children – who were born between 1 September 2008 and 31 August 2009 – have been sent information about the application process.

Please note that from Monday 30th September the opening hours of Dronfield Library will be changing to the following;

Monday 9:30am - 7:00pm
Tuesday 9:30am - 5:00pm
Wednesday 9:30am - 5:00pm
Thursday 9:30am - 5:00pm
Friday 9:30am - 5:00pm
Saturday 9:30am - 4:00pm

The library will be opening at 9:30am each day and will remain open late one night a week on a Monday, but will be closing at 5pm all other week... Read More »

Derbyshire County Council have ordered a temporary road closure of the B6056 Stubley Hollow from the junction with Sheffield Road to the junction with Wreakes Lane from the 28th October to 2nd November between 8:00pm and 4:00am each night to facilitate rail bridge repair works by Network Rail.

Dronfest's 20th Anniversary this weekend

Dronfest has become an annual highlight in the Dronfield calendar of events. In this, it's 20th year, Dronfest will return to Cliffe Park, Callywhite Lane in Dronfield with 2 stages of great music, along with the usual complement of food stalls, bars and entertainment.
