
Cllr Richard Welton
Richard Welton was elected Town Mayor for the Civic Year 2020 - 2021 and continues for the Civic Year 2021 - 2022.
He was elected to Dronfield Town Council in May 2015 to represent Gosforth Valley Ward. In 2017 he was the Deputy Mayor. He is a DTC appointed Foundation Governor at Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School Foundation Trust. He sits on the Finance and Neighbourhood Plan committees and is Chair of the Personnel Committee. He was also elected in May 2015 to represent Gosforth Valley Ward at NEDDC where he sits on the following Committees, Licensing, Organisation Scrutiny and Standards. A resident of Gosforth Valley, Richard came to Dronfield in 1968 and attended William Levick and Dronfield Henry Fanshawe schools before attending Durham University where he has a law degree and a MBA. Qualifying as a barrister and then in a career as a company adviser and investor, he is now retired. Richard is also a member of Dore and Totley Golf Club.
