Another year of continuing success in making Dronfield a more pleasant town in which to work, live and enjoy social and leisure activities.

As can be seen from the financial statement, the Town Council provided and maintained all the items summarised at a net cost of £625,000 during the last financial year.
Capital Works
Two major capital projects were in progress over the past year, both of which represented excellent value for money due to community partnerships and joint working procedures being instigated by the Council. Both Stonelow Changing Rooms and Cliffe Park Bowling Pavilion were completed  and are now excellent facilities provided at substantial savings to local tax payers.

The above expenditure equates to a cost of just over 52 pence per week per
resident of Dronfield

Closer to the People

Little things that make a big difference

Did you know that Dronfield Town Council has provided and maintained over the past few years the following facilities that need maintaining and servicing on a week-by-week basis?

60 bus shelters that are cleaned and disinfected by Dronfield Town Council staff fortnightly. 55 dog control bins throughout the town that are emptied and serviced weekly by Dronfield Town Council staff.  Dronfield still has more dog control bins that the rest of NE Derbyshire combined.

80 litter bins, many of them on Dronfield Town Council owned land that are emptied and serviced weekly by Dronfield Town Council staff.  60 salt and grit bins provided by Dronfield Town Council that need refilling and replenishing by Dronfield Town Council staff during the winter months.

120 roadside seats that have been provided over the past four years by Dronfield Town Council and require inspection and repair from time to time. 16 notice boards and maps that have been provided, require inspection, cleaning and repairs. 12 kilometres of public footpaths and walkways that are strimmed and treated with weedkiller twice a year by Dronfield Town Council staff.  Many of these footpaths have been surface covered with stone and some have tarmacadam surfaces - all provided and serviced by Dronfield Town Council staff.

Dronfield Town Council employ one dedicated road sweeper who covers the town on a rolling programme and gets into the nooks and crannies that the mechanised sweepers cannot access. Ten play area sites throughout the town have been installed over the years and these require a weekly safety inspection to check for damage, graffiti, glass etc.

All the financial accountancy and bookkeeping duties are maintained to the required legal standards.  All the civic and democratic processes such as agendas, minutes and correspondence for all meetings are prepared and carried out by the Town Clerk's office, which is by far the leanest of all the Best Value Town Councils in the country.

Lots of little things - but they do make such a big difference to the quality of life for the residents of Dronfield.
