MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL MEETING OF DRONFIELD TOWN COUNCIL HELD AT 7.30 pm ON MONDAY 8th MAY 2006 IN THE DRONFIELD CIVIC HALL, DRONFIELD

ELECTION OF TOWN MAYOR
Councillor Mrs Kathy Marr was nominated and seconded for the office of Town Mayor.
1. RESOLVED
That Councillor Mrs Kathy Marr be appointed Town Mayor for the Civic Year of 2006/2007.
Councillor Mrs Marr then moved to the Chairperson’s seat and was invested by the former Town Mayor with the Chain of Office.
Councillor Mrs Marr then made her Declaration of Acceptance of Office as Town Mayor and undertook to be guided by the National Code of Local Government Conduct. Councillor Mrs Marr then signed the Acceptance of Office book accordingly, which was witnessed by the Proper Officer of the Council.
The Town Mayor then thanked colleagues for her appointment and pledged to fulfil her duties in the manner expected. Mrs Marr praised both the town and its residents, and was pleased to hear comments that ‘Dronfield is a lovely town to live in’. Mrs Marr announced that she would continue the tradition of raising money for local groups, organisations and charities that brought benefit to the people of Dronfield.
VOTE OF THANKS TO RETIRING MAYOR
Councillor Nick Foster complimented Councillor Hill on fulfilling the role of Town Mayor over the past twelve months. He thanked Councillor Hill and his wife for carrying out the Mayor’s duty with humour and the right degree of decorum and ability. He went on to comment on the remarkable amount of money raised during his Year of Office and how much it would benefit those local organisations that benefited from all David and Janet’s hard work. He concluded by presenting Janet and David with an album highlighting their achievements during their Year of Office.
RETIRING MAYOR’S RESPONSE
Councillor Hill thanked all his colleagues and staff for their support during his Year of Office. He explained that the role was a demanding one, but that both he and Janet had enjoyed the year meeting so many interesting individuals and organisations. Four concerts had been given during his Year of Office and these had raised 25% of monies raised. Over twenty local organisations had benefited from the fund-raising, which had raised over £4,600.
He closed his remarks by wishing Councillor Mrs Marr all the best of fortune in her Year of Office.
ELECTION OF DEPUTY MAYOR
Councillor Terry Furniss was nominated and seconded for the position of Deputy Town Mayor.
2. RESOLVED
That Councillor Terry Furniss be appointed Deputy Town Mayor for the Civic Year of 2006/2007.

None received, all Members present.
APPOINTMENT OF CO-ORDINATORS AND DEPUTY CO-ORDINATORS
(a) Co-ordinator of Policy and Finance
Councillor N R Foster was nominated and seconded for the position of Co-ordinator of Policy and Finance.
1. RESOLVED
That Councillor Nicholas Foster be appointed Co-ordinator of Policy and Finance for the Civic Year 2006/2007.
(a) Deputy Co-ordinator of Policy and Finance
5. RESOLVED
That Councillor Graham Baxter be appointed Deputy Co-ordinator of Policy and Finance for the Civic Year 2006/2007.
REPRESENTATIVES ON OUTSIDE BODIES (Appendix 1)
Members considered a schedule of representatives and nominations for outside bodies.
6. RESOLVED
That the Members, subject to the following amendments, be appointed to represent this Council on the schedule of outside bodies.
(a) That Councillor David Hill replace Councillor Clive Gill on the Dronfield in Bloom Committee.
(b) That the Mayor represents the Council on the Peel Centre Management Committee for his/her Year of Office.
CYCLE OF MEETINGS (Appendix 2)
Members considered a cycle of meetings and venues for the Civic Year 2006/2007.
5. RESOLVED
(a) That the schedule of dates and times for meetings in the Civic Year 2006/2007 be received, noted and accepted.
