MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL MEETING OF DRONFIELD TOWN COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY 9th MAY 2005 IN DRONFIELD CIVIC HALL AT 7.30 pm

Election of Town Mayor Members considered one nomination for Town Mayor.
That Councillor David Hill be appointed as Town Mayor for the Civic Year of 2005/2006. Councillor Hill then received the chain of office from the retiring Mayor, assumed the chairmanship of the meeting and signed the statutory declaration.
The Mayor addresses the Council The Mayor then thanked all his colleagues on the Council, particularly the retiring Mayor and said he fully intended to promote Dronfield as an excellent place to work and live. He paid tribute to the many dedicated and committed residents and groups within the town and stated that he would try to justify colleagues’ faith in him by ensuring that the Dronfield community remains as inclusive as possible.
Vote of Thanks to Retiring Mayor Councillor Mrs Marr thanked Councillor Emmens and his wife, Joyce, for their hard work and dedication as Town Mayor and Mayoress over the past year. They had raised well over £5,000 for their appeal, which had been distributed to a large selection of local community groups to help them in their efforts of serving the community.
The Retiring Mayor’s Response The retiring Mayor offered his congratulations and best wishes to the newly appointed Mayor and wished to reiterate his comments about the hard work and dedication of local community groups. He said that he and Joyce had tried to raise as much as possible so that the local volunteer groups of young and old residents could benefit. He had distributed cheques varying from £200 to £500 to fourteen local organisations. He paid tribute to his wife, Joyce, who had worked so hard in making his Mayor’s Appeal so successful.
That the foregoing reports be received and noted.
Election of Deputy Town Mayor The Council considered one nomination for the appointment of Deputy Town Mayor. That Councillor Graham Baxter be appointed Deputy Town Mayor for the Civic Year of 2005/2006.

Co-ordinator of Finance and Policy That Councillor N R Foster be appointed Co-ordinator of Finance and Policy for the Civic Year 2005/2006.
Deputy Co-ordinator of Finance and Policy That Councillor Mrs Christine Smith be appointed Deputy Co-ordinator of Finance and Policy for the Civic Year of 2005/2006.
Representatives on Outside Bodies (Appendix 1) Members considered a schedule of representation on Outside Bodies. That the Members named on the schedule appended to these Minutes, be appointed to represent Dronfield Town Council on the relevant outside bodies.
Representatives on School Governing Bodies (Appendix 2) Members considered a schedule of representation on various local schools, but were reminded that schools were in the process of amending their constitutions and could, if they so decided, not accept nominations for governors from the Town Council.. That Dronfield Town Council representatives on local school governing bodies as appended to these minutes, be appointed to represent Dronfield Town Council as school governors, but that if the school amends its constitution then that nominee will not serve.
Cycle of Meetings (Appendix 3) Members considered a schedule of proposed meetings for the Civic Year 2005/2006. That the schedule of meetings for 2005/2006 be received, accepted and approved.
