The Council Crest

The Council's Crest is an amalgamation of various items of local significance. At the top is the Cavendish Stag.

The main part of the Badge depicts the Town's activities - of agriculture by the sheaves of corn and the ploughed furrows and of industry by the blacksmith with his anvil and forge. The checkerboard design is part of the original seal of the Dronfield Grammar School, which was founded in 1568 by Henry Fanshawe Esq., who was a Queen's Remembrancer. In the centre of the badge is the Derbyshire Rose.
